Serving Communities Through Increasing Access to Yoga
Serving Communities Through Increasing Access to Yoga

WHAT IS SEVA ?

Seva is a “selfless action that serves for the betterment of a Community.” When one performs Seva yoga, we are acting for the greater good of the community collectively, denouncing attachment to an individual gain.

When we choose to act selflessly, we are forced to confront our true nature recognizing our personal thought patterns and attitudes. We become confronted with our positive and adverse attributes and begin to approach them with non-judgement. Through elevating our self awareness we begin to learn what parts of our personality no longer serve us and find serenity within, independent from external factors.

WHAT DOES THE SEVA YOGA PROJECT DO?

The Seva Yoga Project provides a quality yoga teacher training program to areas currently underserved with availability to yoga.

We strongly believe in the healing power of yoga. Its ability to heal the individual as well as the population at large. One of the main goals of yoga is to remove suffering through creating a way of life that enables the student to become more aware of one’s own consciousness and spirituality innate in buddhi, conscience intelligence. Yoga has withstood the test of time and has continued to grow in popularity. We believe that it is in large part due to its ability to heal and infuse love and minimize the suffering of the practitioner, maybe without them even knowing, initially.

As wsee Yoga and it's imbedded ideology spread across cities and towns we must also notice there are portions of this country that do not have access to quality yoga programs or teachers. If we look deeper we can see that these are areas where physical as well as spiritual suffering is at an all time high. The purpose of this project is to help bring access of yoga to those that need it the most, at. By offering a quality yoga teacher program, one rooted in the physical as well as the philosophical teachings of the practice, to these areas that have, until this point not had easy access, we help spread the healing power of yoga and the eventual cessation of suffering.

At the heart of our teacher training is the Seva Yoga Project. Each teacher training group will choose a community action project, an area within their our community where they feel the healing power of yoga can bring relief from suffering. Through the development of this project each student will participate in the act of Seva, selflessly and collectively working for the betterment of their own Community and through this evolve one's spiritual growth.
